The One Thing Your Makeup Artist Wants You To Know
Over the years, I've had the fortunate pleasure to make up so many women, men, and kids than I could ever keep track of. At first, I thought, I'm just applying makeup, right? It's no big deal -- everyone wants to feel and look pretty.
But then, as my business evolved, it became so much more than that.
I came face to face with women's struggles, insecurities, successes, and celebrations. I became a friend, confidant, wardrobe stylist, hairstylist, professional steamer, prop holder, wind blower, and a one woman glam squad.
As women, we wear all the hats.
We often feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, undervalued, scatterbrained, like we are treading water, and not attractive -- all at once. I know I'm there sometimes, too!
Here's what I want you to know:
You, darling, are beautiful.
When a client sits in my chair, I don't see the blemishes, the dark circles, the unplucked brows, the redness, the birthmarks, or whatever else you feel that I'm focusing on.
You know what I see?
I see a vulnerable human being. A woman. A Mom. A friend. A sister. A girlfriend. A bride. An Aunt. Someone just trying to live this life the best they can just as I am.
It is my job to pamper you and to help bring out the beauty that's already within in you.
Now, next time you sit down to have your makeup done or hair colored, just relax. We, as stylists, work hard to take care of you to give you the best experience possible. Our biggest compliment is that you indulge in the time you are given to be catered to. It doesn't happen that often.
PS. What is the one thing you love to do for yourself? I love to get a manicure/pedicure at my favorite place in Raleigh, Paintbase!
